With a pitching staff of hot arms, the Houston Astros are looking to return to the playoffs in 2004. Houston landed the top pitchers on the market, Andy Pettitte and Roger Clemens. These acquisitions solidify a staff aced by Roy Oswalt. The offense is lead by the 5-headed monster of Jeff Bagwell, Jeff Kent, Lance Berkman, Craig Biggio and Richard Hidalgo. The team is managed by Jimy Williams and has been located in Houston since 1965. They have made the playoffs seven times. Since 2000, the team has been playing its games in Minute Maid Park, which has a capacity of 40,950.

Houston has pulled out all the stops the last few weeks in hopes of winning the NL Wild Card. With their pitching staff always a threat, bats such as Jeff Bagwell, Craig Biggio and Lance Berkman swinging consistently well, the Astros seem to have the best chance to see the postseason. Roger Clemens is making a case for his seventh Cy Young award, and if he is able to pitch in October, expect opposing batters to be shaking in their cleats. Phil Garner is managing a scary team that should give the other playoff teams a run for their money.
