Bills

In the city where football is life, where Jim Kelly once took the Bills to four straight Super Bowls, a new hero in Drew Bledsoe is in town. Since the inception of the team in 1960, The Bills have won 2 League Championships (AFL) and 4 trips to the Super Bowl. Such players as Jim Kelly, Thurman Thomas and Bruce Smith have led the Bills to football prominence, the same place the Bills of today are trying to get to. The Bills were able to win without a solid defense in 2002. With the addition of a whole new defensive lineup, the Bills could cause grief for teams in the AFC East with a solid defense to compliment their already talented offense.

The Buffalo Bills expected great things of 2003, and through the first two weeks of the season it appeared those things were going to come true. Though they started out fast, things quickly screeched to a halt and Buffalo went on to one of the worst seasons in their history, and easily the worst of Quarterback Drew Bledsoe\'s career. Bledsoe\'s second season in the red and blue was supposed to be a great success story, and rapidly turned into his worst statistical year.
That\'s where rookie head coach Mike Mularkey fits in, the dynamic and resourceful Mularkey has redrafted the offensive system. The passing attack, while not completely abandoning the long ball, is trying to establish a short-pass system with the intention of getting the ball out of Bledsoe\'s hands as quick as possible. If that can happen, the rest of this offense is certainly ready to go with Travis Henry back at tailback and Eric Moulds remaining as one of the biggest threats at Wide Receiver in the league.
If the offense gets into gear, the defense is certainly there. Last season this team ranked second in the NFL in yards allowed per game, and fifth in points allowed. The key players in that defense, London Fletcher and Takeo Spikes return to make moving the ball on the Bills a formidable task.
With the defense still strong and a healthy offense, everything rides on Drew Bledsoe and Coach Mularkey\'s system in their attempt to return Buffalo to the AFC prominence they held throughout the 90\'s.

The Bills hope to use thier early bye week to step back and look at a team that has gone 0-2 largely due to a stagnant offense. While back Travis Henry sees numerous carries during a game, the line struggles to protect him and QB Drew Bledsoe. The defense has done its part, with stars such as Takeo Spikes and London Fletcher. If the Bills are to have any luck in the AFC South, they must find a way to put points on the board. Otherwise, they'll keep getting left behind in every game.
