The Panthers were a 1995 expansion team that enjoyed early success winning its division in its second year. Coming into the 2004 season, the Panthers are NFC Champs. Expect the Panthers to be great again this season. Julius Peppers will look to have another strong year heading up the defense.

As the finals seconds ticked off the clock, the Superbowl for the 2003 season ended with the Carolina Panthers just a few seconds short of a major upset of the New England Patriots. Disappointment obviously was felt, but many members of the team will use it as a motivating factor to return to the Super Bowl this season.

Defending the NFC Championship won\'t be easy, but the key components are still there for this season. Stephen Davis is the key to the ground-based attack that Carolina used for the majority of last season. Through the early parts of last season Carolina ran through their opponents, but the later weeks showed a new star of the offense, Quarterback Jake Delhomme. Locked in with a new contract, Delhomme looks to continue his improvement throughout this regular season.

Heading up the very strong defensive unit of the defending NFC Champions will be Julius Peppers, who\'s looking to have another fantastic season. Also be on the lookout for Mike Rucker, a Defensive End from Nebraska that notched 12 sacks last season.

There are many factors that come into play when trying to reach the Super Bowl. The largest one is talent, something Carolina has plenty of, and hopes to ride into a second consecutive Super Bowl.

Carolina still appears to be a crap shoot in the NFL. The defending NFC champs have kept to their formula of playing a solid four quarters, wearing down the other team. With only two games, a loss to Green Bay and a comeback win in Kansas City, their performances still leave much to be known about a team that possibly sports the best D-line in the NFL. The underrated QB Jake Delhomme comes into this season with much to prove, and with Stephen Davis ailing from injuries, there may be more attention on his air attack. But if the explosive DeShaun Foster can come in big like he has in the past and take the burden off Delhomme, Carolina is far from out of the race for another NFC championship.
