Dolphins

The Miami Dolphins have been playing since 1966. Two league championships and the only undefeated season in league history are the franchise’s claim to fame. The all-time greats in Miami include Dan Marino, Larry Czonka and Bob Griese. The Miami Dolphins have made key transactions in the past acquiring Ricky Williams and Junior Seau. Look for the Dolphins to possibly clinch the AFC East and make a run deep into the playoffs this season if they have home field advantage.

Coming into training camp, the Miami Dolphins looked like the same team from a season ago, even though they were holding a competition in camp to see who would be the team\'s starting quarterback. With Ricky Williams leading the charge, the team\'s offense was mostly settled. Pound him up the middle, over and over and over again. It has produced winning records for two straight seasons in Miami, just not yet a playoff berth for Coach Dave Wannstedt\'s team. The pickup of A.J. Feeley and David Boston was meant to be the support to the offensive cause that would lead the team deep into the playoffs. Then everything fell apart with the retirement of Ricky Williams, and an injury to David Boston, leaving the team reeling with a what can happen next attitude.
The team, now looking nothing like it did a season ago, will fall into the hands of either new acquisition Feeley or the starter of the past few years, Jay Fiedler. Without the running back position set, the competition for starter became much more important to the team\'s livelihood. With good receiving targets Chris Chambers and Darius Thompson the quarterbacks still have competent receivers, but will miss the former Pro Bowler David Boston and the impact he could make on the squad.
Adding to the problems is the uncertain contract status of Adewale Ogunleye, the monster defensive lineman that has been the best pass rusher for the team in recent seasons. If they can resign him, they bring back a top-ten defense that is lead by the always tough Junior Seau at Linebacker.
The Dolphins were criticized last year for being the league\'s most predictable offense. Predictability is not something that this team can be criticized for this season, coming off the most confusing offseason in the league. If Coach Wannstedt can set the ship right, it will be an amazing feat.

A quarterback controversy and a lack of a premier running back has spelled disaster for the Miami Dolphins. The Fins have been horrendous with the ball, rushing under 50 yards a game. And as Jay Fiedler and A.J. Feeley swap starting positions at QB, receivers like Chris Chambers and Randy McMichael find themselves the target of double-teams, shutting down offensive production. The defense, as usual, is playing stellar with solid performances from Zack Talyor, Jason Talyor and Sam Madison, but can't carry a team unable to score points. Dave Wannstedt has a tough road ahead of him, but if he can keep his defense intact long enough to put together an offensive squad like last year, the Dolphins will be on the right track. Expect a very tough road though.
