In New York Jets history, there have been may storied teams and players. Four division championships and a Super Bowl victory are part of this club’s rich history. Chad Pennington is a special kind of quarterback, and one missed desperately by the Jets last season due to injury. The team couldn\'t cope without the star and fell into a tailspin they were unable to correct, keeping them from going to the playoffs. With Pennington back and healthy, the Jets certainly believe that he is all they really need to get back into contention, as few additions came in via free agency.
The run defense last season aided the Jets ability to end the season with a losing record, 28th in the league. Donnie Henderson, former coach of the Ravens secondary has been brought in as the new defensive coordinator to improve last season\'s pourous effort. He\'ll be aided with a New York favorite, rookie linebacker Jonathan Vilma, who had the NY crowd chanting his name on draft night. His look in camp and in the early preseason show him to be the real deal with a skill set to be a talented player in the league.

The New York Jets are looking strong and polished as Chad Pennington is enjoying passing to Santana Moss and Justin McCareins. RB Curtis Martin is again showing that he is not to be counted out, as he will run down any unsuspecting defense. While the defense has done well to keep yardage down, they must also keep the poinbts off the board. But the Jets have the look and determination of a team ready to give the Patriots a run for their money in the AFC East.
