Eagles

The Eagles have played football since 1933. The last Super Bowl appearance was in 1980 under Dick Vermeil. Some of the greats that played for the Eagles include Steve Van Buren, and Jerome Brown. The team had a stellar season in 2003. They made it back to the NFC Championship game, but lost to the Carolina Panthers. This year, Donovan McNabb is completely healthy and has the ability to carry this team to the Super Bowl in 2005. The Eagles are favored to win the NFC East and be a serious contender for the Super Bowl again this season, especially with Terrell Owens and Jevon Kearse in the mix.

An 0-2 start for the Eagles in 2003 had many experts writing them off quickly. Things changed for the Eagles, after a few sloppy wins Donovan McNabb fell back into the same good habits as one of the best QB\'s in the NFL, the team found its rhythm, and despite having no receiver that provided a real threat to defenses, having not one but three running backs who split time, and even despite coming up with a necessary 4th and 28 conversion in the playoffs, the Eagles fought through and made it back to their third consecutive NFC Championship game, only to once again watch another team take its spot in the Super Bowl.

Philly fans had become chronic complainers about the lack of spending by the Eagles in picking up high quality players or keeping their own. This offseason\'s biggest story made those talks go away. In picking up Terrell Owens, the Eagles get the piece of the offense they\'ve been missing for some time, a game-breaking wide out to compliment McNabb\'s ability at qb.

Owens wasn\'t the first big addition to the team though, shoring up the defensive line was the first big signee of the free agency period, former Titan Jevon Kearse signed on with the team. The hope in Philly is that the two additions will overcome the loss of their starting Cornerback tandem, and their starting halfback Duce Staley.

If the fans got what they wanted in the offseason by Philly showing itself ready to make moves to put itself over the hump, they are not ready to face another disappointment in watching another NFC representative playing in the Super Bowl. It\'s Super Bowl or bust this season for McNabb and the gang, because they\'re tired of saying what could have been.

Philadelphia is having the most fun this season, and who can blame them? They are currently playing the best football in the league and making it look effortless. QB Donovan McNabb has his dream receiver in Terrell Owens, and so far has enjoyed having him there. Both are putting up impressive numbers and the MVP buzz is already swirling around McNabb. And with concentrated effort on stopping the pass, RB Brian Westbrook has made the plays when needed. Jevon Kearse also appears to be comfortable with his new team, adding to an already choking defense. Even this early in the season there is talk of Super Bowl contention. If Andy Reid can keep everyone's egos in check, there is no reason why the Eagles can't finally make it to the big game in Jacksonville this year. With expectations this high already, they had better.
