The San Francisco 49ers have one the most storied dynasties in NFL history. The Niners are trying to get back to the glory days of Bill Walsh and Geroge Siefert. This team is the first franchise in NFL history to win five Super Bowl titles. With a cast of Pro Bowl players, the 49ers will be a strong playoff contender. Can these players match the winning tradition of Joe Montana, Jerry Rice and Dwight Clark? Only time will tell.

One of the most storied teams in NFL history with five Vince Lombardi Trophies to its credit, the San Francisco 49ers are looking at a rebuilding season minus the two key offensive players from the past several years. The salary cap and on-field problems of Jeff Garcia and Terrell Owens lead to both players leaving the team.
With Garcia in Cleveland, Tim Rattay is the answer for now at quarterback, and though not as experienced as Garcia, Rattay did have flashes of brilliance in filling in for Garcia last season, and it is hoped that he can make even more progress with the full time job this year.
Progress is something that the staff hopes for much of the roster. Ten draft picks in this year\'s draft has put plenty of rookies on the roster, and fresh faces helping the 49ers out of their cap problems and progressing into the next stars in a franchise that has made many legends.

The 49ers have seen better days, much better. Starting off 0-3 and without key players Jeff Garcia and Terrell Owens, fans in Frisco must have patience with a young team headed by QB Ken Dorsey. RB Kevin Barlow is a valuable asset, but the offense must find a way to put more points on the board, as the defense is allowing four touchdowns a game. While the D-line has done their job, opposing teams continue to find the end zone mostly due to opponents' field position. All facets of the 49er team, offense, defense and special teams must be improved if this team hopes to relive the glory of years past.
