Seahawks

The Seahawks have been playing football since 1976. The team has won two division championships. The only retired number was the digits worn by Steve Largent, but the franchise has also retired #12 representing the fans as the 12th man. Shawn Alexander must carry the offense again this year. The Seahawks have a stout defensive line with Chike Okeafor, John Randle, and Antonio Cochran. Look for the defense to step up and make games very interesting in the NFC West.

Seattle hasn\'t been this excited for football in a long, long time. The Seahawks are right in the middle of every conversation about the best teams in the NFC. Mike Holmgren has shaped an offense (sixth in the league last season) in the image of his Green Bay Packers Super Bowl teams, and looks to have his team prepared to become the class of the NFC West.
Leading the offense is confident Matt Hasselbeck. Hasselbeck\'s biggest moment came during last year\'s wildcard round, when standing across from his mentor, Green Bay\'s Brett Favre, he said upon winning the coin flip to determine the first possession of overtime that the Seahawks would take the ball and score with it. The confidence was caught on the microphone and led to mockery when he failed in that attempt, but showing himself to be confident in himself and the offense just shows how Holmgren has transformed this team.
With the offense right there, now Ray Rhodes defense has to step up their game from 19th in the league last season. Bobby Taylor, a Pro Bowl quality corner was acquired via free agency to shore up the pass defense. To create a pass rush and to stop the run, defensive lineman Grant Wistrom was signed away from division rival St. Louis.
It\'s been a long time since the Seahawks completed the goal of playing in two consecutive playoffs, or even in winning a playoff game. Simply doing those two things won\'t be enough to meet the expectations of this team, whose eyes are clearly locked onto the Super Bowl.

Flying under the radar of most sports fans, the Seahawks have crafted one of the best teams in the NFL. Matt Hasselbeck leads a potent offense that routed the 49ers 34-0 in Week 3. RB Shaun Alexander and WRs Darrell Jackson and Koren Robinson add to one of the best offenses in the NFC. The defense must also be mentioned, as they have allowed only 13 points total in their first three games with a run defense that has been giving running backs nightmares. Coach Mike Holmgren is commanding a team that is ready to win the NFC West and make a strong run in the playoffs. For those interested in watching an exciting team play its heart out for every victory, keep an eye on the Seahawks.
