Ken Hitchcock did a nice job stabling the ship last season, and was rewarded with a hard-fought playoff victory over Toronto in last season\\\'s opening round of the playoffs. This season, the Flyers are packed with aging stars like Jeremy Roenick, Tony Amonte, John LeClair, Mark Recchi, Sami Kapanen, and Keith Primeau. Look for youngsters Simon Gagne, and Michal Handzus to log more ice time up front. Kim Johnsson and rookie Joni Pitkanen should help him out on the blue line. In goal, the Flyers will get some stops from new-arrival Sean Burke. If all goes well, the Flyers should contend for a title this spring.

The problem with many teams in the playoffs is their inability to get off the ground. With a chance at Stanley Cup glory on the line, grow wings and rise above the competition, or stall and go home. The Philadelphia Flyers aren’t one of the teams taxiing at the runway. If their playoff draws aren’t careful, Philadelphia will blow right past them. Jeremy Roenick pilots this ship. The chances for playoff glory rest in the hands of JR. Underrated defenseman Kim Jonhsson will carry the load near the Flyer goal. Johnsson is very adroit at leading the charge on the Flyer power play, as well. Look for Philadelphia to be flying high on its way to the championship while a few wings are clipped along the way.
