Canucks

Few teams can boast the offensive firepower that Vancouver has shown the last few seasons, and this season should be no different. The Canucks first line absolutely dominated the competition last season, with Marcus Naslund and Todd Bertuzzi with about 100 points apiece and Brendan Morrison chipping in 71. Naslund may be the best offensive player in the league this season, period. The offense is also supplemented by a quality second line, anchored by Swedish twins Henrik and Daniel Sedin alongside newcomer Magnus Arvedson. Head coach Marc Crawford begins his fifth season at the helm. Under his wing, the Canucks play an open, offensive game. The defensive corps lost steady veteran Murray Baron, but holds Ed Jovanovski, Mattias Ohlund, and Sami Salo. Goalie Dan Cloutier, who took much of blame for the Canucks\\\' decline in playoffs\\\' second round last season, will look to rebound in 2004\\\'s campaign that should see the Canucks near the top of the West.

Hoping to bring Lord Stanley’s Cup back to Lord Stanley’s Park for the first time since 1915, the Vancouver Canucks begin the postseason with one big loss. Without the scoring, size and toughness of the suspended Todd Bertuzzi, the Canucks will need a strong showing by the players added near the trade deadline. Vancouver was very busy playing the market and bolstering their line up with the anticipation of the postseason. The team brought in Geoff Sanderson from the Columbus and Martin Rucinsky from the New York Rangers. Accompanying the new arrivals, the Canucks will look to its number one scoring line of Markus Nasland, Brendan Morrison, and Matt Cooke. Much needed post-season experience will come from Mike Keane, Trevor Linden, Ed Jovanovski, and Marek Malik. Defensemen Brent Sopel and Mattias Ohlund will bolster the offense through their quality two-way play. Goalie Dan Cloutier notched his third consecutive 30-win season putting him in at a level of consistency with only New Jersey’s Martin Brodeur.
