Dallas Stars Info
The Stars franchise began in 1967 as the Minnesota North Stars. In Minnesota, the North Stars had some success and managed to reach the Stanley Cup Finals twice, but they never won it. The team was then moved to Dallas, Texas in 1993 and changed the name from the North Stars to the Stars. Five years later the Stars won their first Stanley Cup after Mike Madano, Brett Hull, and “The Eagle” Ed Belfour led the team over the Buffalo Sabers in the finals.
The current Stars are one of the overlooked teams in the NHL. Madano leads a talented line-up which boasts stars like Bill Guerin, Marty Turco, and Sergei Zubov. The speed, size, and experience of the Stars should make them one of the favorites for the Western Conference Championship.
ALL-TIME RECORD 1164-1223-446-17
1988 – The Minnesota North Stars select Mike Modano with the No. 1 overall pick in the NHL Entry Draft, and, in the process, find their cornerstone for the next two decades. The Livonia, Mich. native will go on to become the franchise leader in games, goals, assists, points and game-winning goals.
June 19, 1999 – The Dallas Stars win the first Stanley Cup in franchise history (Minnesota or Texas) by defeating the Buffalo Sabres in Game 6, 2-1. Brett Hull scores the controversial game-winning goal in the game’s third overtime period, knocking in a rebound while his skate is in the crease. Officials will review the goal and deem it legal, but the Sabres will still not be satisfied with the call.

2002-2003 Season Finish: 111 points, 1st - Pacific Division
Texas may be the Lone Star State, but this Dallas team is loaded with solid stars that can claim the Stanley Cup for the fans in Big D. The talent translates itself into success both on offense and on defense: eight forwards in double digits in goals scored and three defensemen with 20 or more points. Besides talent, this team boasts a Texas-sized helping of playoff experience. With 12 Stanley Cup rings between them, the postseason is familiar territory for Stars Bill Guerin, Jason Arnott, Mike Modano, Jere Lehtinen, Scott Young, Blake Sloan, Sergei Zubov, Ricard Matvichuk, and Jon Klemm. Goalie Marty Turco struggled at the outset of the season but relied on his intelligence, mobility and his skills to establish himself as one of the top puck-stoppers in the league. The high level of talent and experience in Dallas can a dangerous thing, especially for opponents.
